This year has been particularly difficult for everyone, especially for the world of culture, with many events cancelled since the beginning of the pandemic, putting all its actors at risk.
Fortunately, Jëndalma Art & Design, thanks to its networks, did not stop during all this delicate "Covid-19" period to share with its subscribers and even to innovate via the virtual.
Once again this year, we had the pleasure to make you discover culture, still very much alive, even if we were obliged to limit our visits to museums and physical exhibitions, due to the respect of sanitary instructions.
While everything stopped in general amazement, we first initiated the project #SpreadArtnotcorona Diffusons l'Art, pas le corona !
Through videos of the collective "les Fous de Dakar", the artists expressed their experiences. It was a first way to stay mobilized, to instill the necessary motivation to create and to give them visibility via social networks in partnership with I Love Senegal beyond the then closed borders.
Jëndalma Art & Design, since its beginnings, has understood the importance of the virtual and our Instagram page created in 2018, with more than 11 000 subscribers today, is a showcase of contemporary art of artists from Africa and its diaspora, open to the whole world.
Our online site, launched a few weeks before the start of the corona which marks the beginning of a new era, has created, despite the current difficulties, a proximity with many passionate people in Africa but also in Europe and North America.
Our project "Bët set na Open your eyes!" brought together 14 artists around an unprecedented experience. Welcomed by the public and by the artists involved in this innovative action of distance residency followed by an exhibition in virtual reality, Jëndalma Art & Design has pursued its vocation: to give visibility to the talents of the young generation with the support of I Love Senegal and the French Institute.
